The Fastest Growing Market in Yosh- the Heradim
According to Israel’s Ministry of Interior, the population of the residents of Yehuda-Shomron is growing twice as fast as the rest of the country every year, and the Heradim are responsible for approximately 40 percent of that annual growth.
Last year- the Jewish population of Yehuda-Shomron rose by 5.5 percent to nearly 300,000. However without the two main Heradi communities in Beitar Illit and Modin Illit- that growth rate is only 3.7 percent. More than a quarter of the 300,000 or so Jewish residents of Yehuda-Shomron are concentrated in these three main cities.
Modi'in Illit's population- at nearly 40,000, has annual growth rate of nearly 11 percent (in 2007 it was 12.5 percent). Beitar Ilit's population, some 35,000, grows annually by some 10 percent.
The Interior Ministry predicts that in 10 to 15 years Betar Ilit's population will consist of some 17,500 families totaling some 100,000 residents. Today the town has 5,828 occupied housing units, 1,102 units are under construction and another 5,800 are being planned. Modi'in Ilit has 6,800 occupied housing units and its population is planned to reach 150,000 by 2015.
Every year 60 new classrooms open in Beitar Ilit, where the children make up 63 percent of the population. About 50 babies are born in Modi'in Ilit weekly – about 2,900 a year - and every year an average of 57 new first-grade classes open.
As both of these major urban centers are already large- and as their future growth is almost guarnateed, investors and corporate Israel should take a visit there and see how very, very little in the way of commercial development. These markets can already support many more consumer services, fast food restuarants, local branches of stores from all the major chains in Israel, leisure and attraction. Great opportunities await investors and entrepreneurs in these two new consumer markets.
